Lego's BTS set has been announced, and I'll try to stop giggling like Little Miss Sunshine on the breeze. No promises.
All seven members of the K-pop juggernaut chill out on the video set of their major single, which broke YouTube's 24-hour record with over 100 million views in 2020. It also broke the YouTube comment record.
The kit, made by two 20-year-old fans, features adorable Lego models of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook donning their video outfits—I can't stop staring at V's waistcoat. They're interspersed among little buildable sets of pastel-hued, '70s-style venues like the retro burger and doughnut shop, ice cream truck, record store, basketball court, and the all-important discothèque with its huge DISCO sign. Brief BTS stage.
You can place a turquoise-haired RM in a record store with Lego "Dynamite" vinyls, Jungkook toasting donuts, or V dancing next to the ice cream truck.
Lego tweeted about a BTS release days ago. BigHit and HYBE did not create BTS. It's part of Lego Ideas, where anyone may submit set designs and vote on them. "Dynamite" was designed by 20-year-old Indiana designer Josh and 21-year-old New York BTS fan Jacob. Lego accepted it after 10,000 Ideas views.
"Josh performed the building and design work, and as a great BTS fan, I instructed him what needed to be in it, what details were most important," Jacob said in a Lego news release.
"Jacob had BTS expertise, and he was able to lead my construction in the right way," Josh said. "I watched the music video repeatedly to capture its energy with Lego bricks."
In early March 2023, Lego's website and stores will sell the BTS "Dynamite" Lego kit for US$99.99 (£89.99 / €99.99).
Here's the video since the music's stuck in your head.
